Hi Adam,
Thanks for trusting planDisney with your thoughtful vacation-planning questions. I ran into Frozone at Disney's Hollywood Studios last week and was impressed by his super suit. The
My Disney Experience mobile app is your family's greatest superpower on your upcoming Walt Disney World Resort vacation. Knowing how to use it can make your park days run as smoothly as Frozone on ice.
I understand everyone in your family is connected to your My Disney Experience account. This means your wife and son have My Disney Experience account profiles managed by you. You can confirm this by looking at your
Family & Friends list, where your wife and son should appear with the words "Plans managed by me" next to them.
The good news is you can make plans on your park days for anyone who appears on your Family & Friends list. This includes purchasing
Disney Genie+ service and booking Lightning Lane attractions. On the morning of each park day, I recommend purchasing Disney Genie+ service by 6:45 a.m. so you can book your first Genie+ Lightning Lane attraction at 7:00 a.m. on the dot. You purchase Disney Genie+ service on the Tip Board of the My Disney Experience mobile app (three small lines at the bottom right of the app's homepage > Tip Board). Part of the purchase process asks you to confirm your party, which is where you'll select your party of three from the list of eligible Family & Friends. The same party confirmation step applies when booking your Genie+ Lightning Lane attractions and when purchasing Individual Lightning Lane attractions, which Disney Resort hotel Guests can do at 7:00 a.m. each morning.
Another thing you can use your My Disney Experience mobile app to do at 7:00 a.m. is join the
virtual queue for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind in EPCOT or TRON Lightcycle / Run at Magic Kingdom Park. It's impossible to join the virtual queue, purchase an Individual Lightning Lane, and book your first Genie+ Lightning Lane at the same time, so my recommended order of operations is virtual queue, then Genie+ Lightning Lane, then Individual Lighting Lane. Because your family members are all logging into one account, I do not recommend dividing up these responsibilities as conflicting actions happening at the same time may confuse the system. Your wife and especially your 13-year-old
are encouraged to assist with other magical duties throughout the day. In my family, I book the Genie+ Lightning Lanes, my tween loves taking selfies with the Disney PhotoPass lenses, my son enjoys checking attraction wait times, and my husband is the king of
mobile food and beverage ordering.
Teamwork makes the dream work, Adam, and planDisney is honored to be part of your vacation-planning team. Please reach out to me
directly with any follow-up questions.
Choose magic,
Jennifer
