My family and I are traveling to WDW for the first time Dec. 20th. (three girls 7,4, & 10 months) I was wondering if planning your days was crucial or if it was okay to go with the flow?

    Melissa:

Most folks that know me will agree I would fall in the category of planners, however, I have done Disney World without a "plan."

    BUT....

You are going December 20.  The crowds will begin to start building toward Disney's busiest time of the year, Christmas.  And quite frankly, Disney World without a plan in crowds is no fun.

If you're not a planner, don't panic.  You simply need to decide which parks you'll go to on which days and at least one restaurant a day along with a few attractions at the parks that are must-do's.  Once you've done that, you'll enjoy knowing you are getting the most for your vacation dollar.

    • STEP ONE:  Visit the smaller parks (Magic Kingdom and Disney Studios) earlier in your stay and leave the larger parks (Animal Kingdom and Epcot) for later as your visit comes closer to Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
    • STEP TWO:  If you haven't made Dining reservations for sit-down meals, do it NOW.  Otherwise, you'll be waiting stand-by for seating and wasting precious time that you could be spending in the parks.  Believe me, small children do not take waiting gracefully when hungry.  Dining reservations can be made by calling 407-939-3463 or online.  Even if you're only going to eat at quick service locations, have a few in mind so you don't criss cross the parks looking for them.
    • STEP THREE:  Lastly, look through the archives of our sight with "must-do" in the search for some of our recommendations of what to do in each park.  Or visit a site like www.touringplans.com that actually has touring plans!

A few hours of prior planning before your trip will ensure a good time is had by all!

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

Meet the Panelist: Whitney, Mississippi

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
