Hi!! My family is traveling to Walt Disney in September. I have made dining reservations at the Grand Floridian Cafe for dinner one evening. We will be at the Magic Kingdom that day. What will be the fastest route to get there from the park?

    Hi Matthew,

Thanks for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question. After a day at Magic Kingdom, dinner at the Grand Floridian Cafe will be an excellent way to rest, relax and recharge in the Victorian charm of the Grand Floridian Resort.

My family often follows a visit to Magic Kingdom with a meal at one of the hotels on the monorail. Your fastest route to the Grand Floridian from Magic Kingdom is probably the resort monorail, even though it stops at the Contemporary, the Transportation and Ticket Center and the Polynesian Village Resort before reaching the Grand Floridian. The resort monorail is accessible from near the Magic Kingdom exit. It will be the monorail platform on your left.

You'll also see water taxi service to the Grand Floridian available nearby. If there's a boat at the dock or approaching, it might be a couple of minutes faster than the monorail. But since the water taxi takes longer to dock, load and unload, we usually opt for the monorail.

If you want to go back to Magic Kingdom after dinner for the new Happily Ever After projection and fireworks show or other fun, the trip is super quick and easy. Magic Kingdom is just one stop and a few minutes away from the Grand Floridian on the monorail.

You also will want to return to Magic Kingdom to catch transportation back to your resort if you are staying on Walt Disney World property.

Please let us know, Matthew, if you have any other questions as you make your vacation plans. We're happy to help. Enjoy!
