Our family will be traveling for a family vacation next month to all 4 parks. it will be our first time visiting. I have heard there is special things to do for first time visitors and a way to be recognized in the parks as first time visitors.

    Hi Tamara,

Welcome to planDisney! How nice to see you stopping by to ask a great question.

Hooray for this first visit! First things first, be sure to pick up 1st time buttons for each member of your family. If you are staying at a Walt Disney World Resort Hotel, you can pick up one of the celebratory buttons from a Cast Member at the resort. Otherwise, you can stop by Guest Relations in a theme park to get one. These buttons are the key to the magic! I suggest that you wear them every day. Whenever we are wearing our celebratory buttons, Cast Members notice and they have sprinkled us with a little extra pixie dust.

Although current theme park experiences have changed since our first visit with our girls, we had a few amazing experiences. We had a Cast Member notice our girls in their princess dresses one evening and she arranged a special "Princess Bus" for us to take back to our resort hotel. When you make your advanced dining reservations also be sure to make a note on the reservations that you are celebrating a first visit. The Cast Members who served us were wonderful!

Since it looks like you are going during the Holidays at Walt Disney World Resort, take a look at some of these First Visit Tips from a few of my fellow panelists. Although FastPass+ is temporarily unavailable, you do need to use the Disney Park Pass system to make park pass reservations for each theme park. Be sure to check all of the operational updates so that you are prepared for any changes to the operational procedures.

If I could go back in time to re-do anything about our first visit (and it was completely magical), I would definitely plan our dining and attractions with geography in mind. We underestimated the amount of time it would take to get from place to place AND I had us trekking back and forth in ways that were not efficient. Sometimes the magic comes with the planning. Had I known on that first visit, I would have also ordered a special surprise from Disney Floral & Gifts. On our second visit, I ordered princess balloons delivered for our girls. Their expressions when they saw those balloons were just priceless!

Tamara, check out these tips for an Incredible Visit and pack your super-suits! Be prepared to coordinate for all of the photos you can take with Disney PhotoPass Photographers and, if you have not done so already, consider Memory Maker. I was so glad to have all of those pictures from that first visit, especially the pictures of us on attractions!

    Magic and memories,
