My family is traveling to disney world in april 2014 for 8 days. We are staying on property the first and last days and at off property time share the middle 6 days. Should we link our tickets to our magic bands and my account?

Hi Rachel! This is still a testing phase for the new Magic Bands and you have a unique situation since you will have a one day reservation at the beginning of your vacation and again a one day reservation at the end of the trip. Magic Bands are only being utilized by Disney resort guests at this time. Programs for the day guests still have not been publicized for the future so it is impossible for me to tell you exactly what you will be able to do for the April trip.

At this time you will only be able to link your reservations separately for those two one day stays. Your bands will only work for the days you will be staying at the resorts. You will thus only be able to select Fastpasses for those two specific days. The days in between when you are staying off property you will not be able to pre-reserve the Fastpasses in advance.

The one bit of information that might help is that you will only have to order one magic band as you can use the one for the first resort stay for the last resort reservation day. You do not need to get a new Magic Band for every new reservation. The initial one will continue to read your new information for up to about two years. Of course if you want to collect all of the colors you can pick a new one with each new reservation.

I know this is still a bit confusing but once you have started to use the Magic Bands and Fastpass+ you will find it eases many aspects of your vacation.
