Hello, Paula, welcome to planDisney, and congratulations in advance for your impressive accomplishment of running during the
runDisney Springtime Surprise Weekend! I have run in two runDisney events over the last couple of years and can’t wait to do another. Maybe this question will motivate me to start training for next year’s Disney’s Wine & Dine Half Marathon.
The Springtime Surprise course maps haven’t been released yet on
runDisney’s website, but historically, the course maps are released about two weeks before race weekend. When the course maps are released, you will find areas where your family members can cheer you on.
I did a little digging and was able to find the course map to last year’s Springtime Surprise Toy Story 10 Miler, which started and finished in the parking lot of EPCOT and seems to be the norm these days. This course map showed a spectator viewing area at the start groups and another at the finish line. Since these areas are outside the parks, your family could watch you cross the finish line for free, and if staying at a
Disney Resort Collection hotel at the
Walt Disney World Resort, they could take advantage of the complimentary transportation to and from the race with you!
Paula, as we get closer to the race weekend, more information will be provided in the Digital Expo & Event Guide sent to the email address you used for registration. Here you will be able to see the course map and find out more about spectator viewing. If there is a portion of the course inside the theme parks that is available to spectators, specific times and information will be provided where theme park admission won’t be required.
I hope this information helps you with your planning, you got this!
Cheers,
Brent
