My family will be together again after enduring a 12 month deployment & a Disney cruise sounds like the perfect way to celebrate! Looking at a cruise in July, on the Dream. Only concern are crowds/long lines instead of quality time together. Advice?

    Hi Claire!

Let me start by saying thank you for your family member's service and the sacrifices that your family makes every day. I think a Disney cruise would be an exceptional way to celebrate you all being reunited!

A Disney Cruise Line sailing is unique for so many reasons. First and foremost, there's so much that's included! From the Broadway-caliber shows, fabulous food, deck parties, character meet and greets, and fireworks at sea, you will be surrounded by Disney magic. Heck, even the ship's horn plays Disney tunes!

Hands down, one of the reasons why we keep sailing with Disney Cruise Line is the DREAMy destinations. And tops on our list is Disney's private island, Castaway Cay. I love how we can be busy and active with biking, swimming, and running the Castaway Cay 5k or as leisurely as we want by hanging out in a hammock or a lounge chair on the beach.

Quality time for me and my family is at a premium now that my kids are both teenagers. I like to say that when we set foot on a Disney ship, we're there to unplug and unwind and spend quality time! One way that I'm assured of getting that dedicated family time is during dinners. Even if we've experienced some separate activities during the day (say if my kids have spent time in the Youth Clubs while my husband and I spend some one-on-one time at Satellite Falls), we come together at dinners and share our stories together.

Here's what makes a Disney cruise so special: there is truly something for everyone! It's not just a trip that caters exclusively to adults or is geared just to kids. It is a wonderful blend of fun and relaxation no matter the Guest's age.

The beauty of a Disney ship is its sheer size and the diversity of activities and entertainment. That translates into many spaces for Guests to enjoy. Granted, there are some lines for popular attractions like the splashtastic AquaDuck waterslide (on the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy) and Character Greetings, but I don't find the wait times to be on par at all with the ones at the Walt Disney World Parks in the height of summer season.

So I hope this has given you a sense of how a Disney cruise combines quality time, relaxation, and Disney theming into a fun adventure at sea. Cruise back by the Disney Parks Moms Panel if you have more questions-we'd love to help!

    Happy Sailing!
