My family has three reservations at the wilderness lodge, arriving on Nov. 26 and departing on December 2. Our airlines changed our flights and we’d like to arrive a day earlier. Is that possible?

    Hello Janice!

Welcome to planDisney! Here at planDisney, we are a group of Disney Guests just like you, who are frequent Disney travelers and experts here to share our insider knowledge on all the tips and tricks to make the most of your vacation!

If there is availability at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, adding a day to your vacation shouldn’t be a problem. But because you want to add it to a existing reservations, you should call to book, rather than booking a separate reservation online. I will mention, that when I just went and used the Guest booking page, I don’t see any rooms available that night at any resort. Being a major holiday weekend, finding a room at this late of a date will be challenging, finding three will be even more challenging. That said, it never hurts to call and ask, just be prepared that they are more than likely completely booked.

If you are a Disney Vacation Club Member, you can use the Disney Vacation Club Member website to modify your current reservation and check for availability on that earlier night. I do see one or two rooms available at other resorts, but nothing at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge.

I do have a few other ideas for you, Janice. When we have flown in a day early, we have stayed at the Hyatt Regency that is within the Orlando International Airport. It was affordable, comfy, and convenient. If you’ll be using Disney’s Magical Express, you are entitled to a ride from the airport to your resort on the day of check-in, even if your flight arrives the day before. Simply provide a flight number for the approximate time you would want to head to Disney’s Magical Express on check-in day. This is what I would recommend if you cannot find a room at a Disney Resort Collection Hotel.

Another idea is to contact your airline. Typically, if the airline makes a change to your flight without your permission, you can make a single change to your itinerary without paying a change fee. So if they moved you to the day before, you may be able to find room on another flight the following day.

Sending you pixie dust for the perfect solution, Janice. And wishing you a magical visit to the Walt Disney World Resort.
