Sarah from MI Asked Please note that experiences, policies, pricing and other offerings are subject to change and may have changed since the date of this answer.

Our family of three just booked our first Disney cruise for August. My husband and I would love to experience a meal at both Remy and Palo, but we’re unsure of available childcare options for our 4year old son. Any suggestions?

Ahoy Sarah and welcome to planDisney! Thank you for visiting us as you prepare for your first Disney Cruise! I can't wait for you to step aboard and experience all the magic that is waiting for you on the Disney Dream

I hope that you find your upcoming voyage to be a dream come true! One of the best aspects of a Disney Cruise for a family with a young child like yours is that there will be plenty of time to make memories together as a family and some great opportunities for you to spend time alone with your husband. This is all thanks to the amazing spaces created just for youth onboard.

The Oceaneer's Lab and Oceaneer's Club are Youth Activity Clubs designed for toilet-trained children ages 3-12. These imaginative spaces are secure, led by wonderful Crew Members, and are included in your cruise fare. There are a variety of activities offered for young sailors and even chances to interact with some beloved Disney Characters! Currently, these Youth Activity Clubs require a reservation, and space can be reserved 30 days prior to your embarkation after you have completed your online check-in. As your sail date draws closer, please refer back to the Updated Experiences page on the Disney Cruise Line website, as the policy for reservations may change by then.

As a first-time Guest of the Disney Cruise Line, you will be able to make your reservations for dining at Remy and Palo 75 days before you are set to sail. These dining experiences are popular for a very good reason. The service is superb and the dishes are delectable. If you find that your preferred times to dine are not available to reserve before boarding, don't worry. Once onboard, you can check in with either restaurant to see what they might have available to book. You can also check in with the Crew Members in the youth spaces if you have reservations that you'll need to adjust. The Crew Members onboard will do all they can to make your vacation magical.

Once you have your dining reservations secured, be sure to make your reservations for the Oceaneer's Club and Lab at times that coordinate with your adult-exclusive dining. Grab a quick bite for your child to eat at one of the many dining options on board and check your son in at the Youth Club before heading to your dining reservation. Enjoy your adults-only time knowing that your son will be well cared for and very well entertained! You can even check out these spaces together as a family during an open house time so that your son can be comfortable knowing what to expect when he is away from you. The schedule for open houses and the entire itinerary for entertainment and activities will be available to view once you have boarded the ship via the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app

I hope that you make incredible memories together onboard your Disney Cruise! Please visit planDisney again if you have more questions to ask. It's a pleasure to help as you prepare for your upcoming adventure.

    The magic is waiting!
