    Hello! Our family is thinking about staying at Art of Animation. If we did stay there we would stay in the standard Little Mermaid room. Would we still have access to the other pools and how far away are they?

    Hey Stephanie-

    Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. During a summer trip my extended family of 10 made our home at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort. Guest of the resort are allowed in every pool on property. The Big Blue Pool actually requires a MagicBand or Room Key Card for entrance. Members of our party stayed in the Lion King Suites and in a Little Mermaid room. The Little Mermaid rooms are considerably farther away than any of the family suites. The closest Little Mermaid buildings to the Big Blue Pool, Animation Hall (where Disney Bus Transportations is located), Landscapes Cafe and Ink and Paint Shop are Buildings 7 and 9 and will take you about 10-12 minutes to walk to pools and public areas. Add an additional 5-7 minutes to reach the Cozy Cone Pool. The walk to the pools from Building 8 should add a couple more minutes. Fortunately the Flippin’ Fins Pool overlooked by King Triton and Sebastian the crab will be a very close "part of your world".

    Disney Dad Tip: When making resort reservations or checking in online, you can make a room request “Near Transportation”. Hourglass Lake is beautiful and you may also request a “Lake View.” There are no guarantees but better to ask. touringplans.com has a fabulous Resort Room finder that will give you the specifics about every Walt Disney World Resort room such as sound level, walk to the lobby and a picture of the view from the window.
