My family and I are taking the kids 12/26/11 and wanted to know which character dinings are available for the magic your way plus dining that only use one of your meal tickets? And which character meals are the best for young children?

Yo, Kelsea! The majority of character dining experiences only take one table service credit per person. So we're good there.

It looks like TouringPlans.com is recommending Animal Kingdom as the park to visit on the day you referenced. If you go with their recommendation (do it!) then you'll be at the doorstep of one of our favorite character dining experiences on property: Donald's Safari Breakfast at Tusker House. It's so delicious, featuring a menu chock full of breakfast staples along with flavors from Africa. The majority of the Fab 5 characters usually make an appearance, and you even get to do a parade (avec instruments) with Mickey around the restaurant.

If you're not at Animal Kingdom that day and would like to do a character dining experience outside of the parks, consider Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary. If you're in Magic Kingdom, we're big fans of eating with Pooh at Crystal Palace too. The layout of Crystal Palace is especially nice for young kids who may be frightened by the characters - you can see them coming a mile away before they get to your table (which eliminates the surprise factor that could trip up some young kids.)
