My family and I are staying at Ft. Wilderness campground in June. We have heard that renting a golf cart from "outside companies", in town, is allowed. Is this true, or do you have to rent from Disney? Thank you!

    Hi Terrell!

Personally, I think golf carts are some of the most under appreciated modes of transportation.  Even though I've had a few close calls in them (at the hands of my reckless golfing buddies) I always have a blast when I'm behind the wheel of one.

When it comes to golf carts and Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort, they go together like peanut butter and jelly.  With over 700 acres of property to explore, they're an awesome way to get around.

Your question about renting from non-Disney companies is a good one.  You're allowed to bring your own golf cart to the resort, however you have to be the one that brings it in.  The "outside companies" will not be able to deliver the cart to you at the resort.

There are a few restrictions to keep in mind when you bring in your own cart.  They have to be standard golf carts, not ATV's or utility vehicles (the ones with the pickup beds on the back).  Plus, they can't be street-legal carts (the ones that go over 20 mph and often end up on YouTube videos with people doing crazy stuff).

If it doesn't work out for you to bring in a rented cart on your own, you can always rent one directly from the resort.  You can do this in advance by calling: (407) 824-2742.  Or, you can do a walk-up rental and get one the same day (assuming they aren't totally sold out).

I hope that helps a little and I hope you have an awesome time exploring the grounds at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort!

    Best regards,
    Derek
