Hi Kim! Greetings from this side of the Atlantic!
Welcome to planDisney! It's great to have you stop by with your question! I'm excited about your upcoming visit at the beginning of the new year! A trip to the Walt Disney World Resort to start the year sounds like the perfect way to spend your holiday!
Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort is one of the most intriguing places to stay at Walt Disney World. Being able to pitch a tent or bring a camper to have an outdoor, wilderness experience all while having four theme parks just a few miles away is the best of both worlds. I have not had the chance to have this experience just yet, but I have visited this resort and was blown away by the atmosphere.
If you are not staying here or have an
Advanced Dining Reservation, there is a chance you will not be able to park at this resort to check it out. You can however use
Disney Transportation to make your way over here to tour the resort and possibly grab a bite to eat. You can pay to park at the Ticket and Transportation Center and take the boat or monorail to the Magic Kingdom. From here, you can take the watercraft service to Fort Wilderness. Once you arrive, you can tour the resort and even stop by the
Tri-Circle-D Ranch to see the horses! Although there are a few steps involved with getting to your destination, the complimentary transportation is a fun way to spend a portion of your day.
Kim, if you are interested in a dinner show, the
Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue has returned to Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort. There are multiple showtimes throughout the evening, so make sure to make a reservation well in advance if you are interested. If so, you can park directly at the resort on this day.
See ya real soon!
