Hi Dietra,
I have had the pleasure of staying at Disney's All-Star Music Resort many times over the years. This Value category Resort hotel was the first to offer Family Suites and was a hit with my family of 6. If you are staying in a Family Suite then you will automatically be placed in one of the preferred room locations in Calypso building #1 or #10. If you have booked a regular room then there is a small upcharge to book a preferred room location. When vacationing with young children I usually book preferred rooms in the large Resorts because it is so much more convenient to take a quick dip in the pool or visit the food court.
Beyond the preferred room location you may also consider making a request based on your family's vacation style. Do you want to "be in the heart of the fun"? Then perhaps request a room facing the pool. Do you prefer a quieter location? Then perhaps request a room facing away from the pool (you may have a room view of a parking lot, but it is considerably quieter). Personally I prefer ground floor facing the pool and have never been disturbed by any pool noise, even when vacationing with infants.
If the preferred location rooms are not available, or not within your budget, then I suggest requesting a room in the Jazz Inn buildings #2 or #9. Requests are never guaranteed, but it never hurts to make a request!
