Our family of 6 is staying on property next month at WDW. Not sure that I want to pay extra for magic bands. Is it possible to use both a key to the world from the resort and the Magic mobile app? Only 4 of us have smart phones.

Welcome to planDisney, Allison. Not long now until you round up your band of Incredibles and arrive at The Most Magical Place on Earth. Remember, it's the second star to the right and straight on 'til morning. You'll be in awe of the Beacons of Magic on display at each of the Theme Parks. My personal favorite is Spaceship Earth in EPCOT, which looks EARidescently majestic.

You've made the right choice to stay at a Disney Resorts Collection hotel. Whenever my family travels to Walt Disney World, we love taking advantage of all the benefits that come from staying on property. The convenient (and complimentary) transportation, the extended Park hours, the immersive theming, the second-to-none customer service, and the ability to make advance dining reservations all combine to enhance the magic of our trip.

Staying on property also gives you special discounts on MagicBands. I love the convenience of using MagicBands. However, you'll be pleased to know that you don't need a MagicBand to access your room. In fact, the complementary card  you receive works just like a MagicBand by allowing you to:
    • Unlock your Disney Resort hotel room door.
    • Enter both Theme and Water Parks (with valid admission).
    • Connect any Disney PhotoPass images to your account.
    • Charge tasty food and memorable merchandise purchases to your Disney Resort hotel room (this is only available during your hotel stay)
The My Disney Experience Mobile app allows you to do all this, but also gives you the ability to use amazing features like the new Disney Genie service. Therefore, between the 6 of you, I'm sure you'll have everything you need.

As you anticipate your vacation, make sure you check out all there is to see and do for the 50th Anniversary Celebration. On my most recent trip, I was in awe of watching Harmonious from the Italy pavilion in EPCOT. Don't miss it! If you're looking for somewhere to eat, I was incredibly impressed by Chef Art Smith's Homecomin' at Disney Springs. My fellow planDisney panelists took a video of me eating the Thigh High Chicken Biscuits. Apparently, they'd never seen somebody look so happy.

I hope you have an enchanting trip, Allison. Thanks for stopping by planDisney.
