Aloha, Laura! I am overjoyed to hear you are staying at Disney’s Polynesian Resort for your first Walt Disney World Vacation. From the gorgeous hotel grounds to the monorail right outside your door, everything will be fabulous!
With your Deluxe Dining Plan, choices abound. Disney’s Polynesian Resort boasts numerous eateries, and I love them all. The moment you arrive, head out the back door to Pineapple Lanai, and treat yourself to a frozen Dole Whip, the king of all Disney snacks. If you are of age, you can round the corner to Trader Sam’s Grotto where spiked versions are available (not to be missed!).
Disney's Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show is very much like a luau with Polynesian dancing and an all-you-care-to-enjoy, family-style feast. Make reservations ahead of time; it would be a festive and incredible way to spend your first evening on property. After spending your first night snuggled into your pixie-dusted beds, head down to
Ohana for a character style breakfast with Lilo and Stitch (reservations strongly encouraged). Be sure to pack your autograph book and camera for some memorable moments.
If casual is more your style, grab a quick-service meal at Captain Cook’s, and try the Nachos; the flavors are delectable! Then, ask your concierge if the torch-lighting ceremony will be held. You can sit on the lawn, listen to Hawaiian-style drums, and watch the torches being lit in extreme Polynesian style. In-room service is always available, including pizza delivery for two table-service entitlements. It will include two beverages, too! My family and I use that option to relax on a busy day and ready ourselves for the next day.
I hope your first vacation is memorable, magical, and of course, Mickey-filled! ~Lindsey
