My family of 5 will be staying at the Polynesian in the DVC rooms for July 10th - 17th. We are planning a resort only trip, no parks. What are some activities at different resorts that are still available? Such as boating, horseback riding, ect.?

Aloha, Jessica and welcome to planDisney!

I’m so glad you’ve stopped by with your question. I just returned from a quick trip to the Walt Disney World Resort where we savored our resort time at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa

Jessica, during my visit I was so happy to see some favorite resort activities like pool parties with games and Mickey tie-dye (for a fee). If you have never tie-dyed in the shape of Mickey Mouse you’ll end up with the cutest t-shirt and have lots of fun in the process. If this is of interest, you’ll just want to ask for the schedule when you check into Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows

If you have any budding soccer stars in your party, you may want to check out FootGolf! My family and I have a tee time booked later this month at Disney’s Oak Trail Golf Course and I can’t wait to try golf with no clubs!

If anyone loves the movie Brave and hopes to channel your inner Merida, you might want to test out your archery skills at the Fort Wilderness Archery Experience. While my family and I haven’t tackled this yet, it’s on our list! While you’re there, why not hop on the back of a horse and see Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort from a new perspective!

At this time some of the boating experiences remain on pause, however Guided Fishing Excursions ARE setting sail! My friend and fellow panelist, Shantel, booked this excursion for her husband earlier this year and it was quite a CATCH!

Finally, Jessica, while this is not an official experience like those I’ve described above, you can create your own animal adventure by booking a lunch or dinner reservation at Sanaa at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas- Kidani Village. Once you’re there, spend some time exploring each area of the savanna and chatting with the knowledgeable Cast Members about the animals. My family and I stayed here last August and really enjoyed learning about some of the WILDest characters at the Walt Disney World Resort.

Jessica, I hope this helps kick-start your plans for your resort only stay this July. If you have any other questions, please come on back to planDisney where we love to help guests find activities that will have them smiling from ear to EAR.

Greetings from central Pennsylvania! Hi, I’m Lauren and I can’t wait to answer all of your Walt Disney World Resort and Disney Vacation Club questions. My husband and I became Disney Vacation Club Members because we love visiting the Disney Parks and with hectic day-to-day schedules, wanted to prioritize time away for our family. The options at the Walt Disney World Resort make each trip unique and I am excited to help other families build vacations with those unforgettable moments.
