Welcome back to planDisney, Kristin! It's great to see you hEAR again planning another Magical stay.
My family and I love Disney's Old Key West Resort and its laid back island vibe. The entire atmosphere of this property exudes relaxation and is a great juxtaposition from the busyness of the parks!
Kristin, as the mama of two very active Mouseketeers I appreciate this question and am always searching for available activities. On our last visit to
Disney's Old Key West Resort my boys spent a lot of time (when they weren't rushing down the water slide) at the
outdoor ping pong table, Foosball table and the Community Hall. We love to stop in the Community Hall on our first day to check-out the craft options available. While these are constantly changing, in the past we have painted banks, made wreaths and created our own bookmarks. If your teens need to burn off a bit more energy, there are also tennis courts right around the corner from the Sandcastle Pool (just grab racquets and tennis balls from the bike rental stand)!
When you check-in make sure to take a picture of the Recreation Experience Offerings page (which is usually posted at various locations around the resort) as you'll find information specific to your travel dates. Current offerings include (for a small fee) Mickey Tie-Dye, bike rentals and campfires! Kristin, I hope this helps as you're thinking about how to fill your Disney days! As a
Disney Vacation Club Member I love knowing that we can enjoy a full day of fun without ever leaving our resort.
Kristin, before I wish you well, let me offer one last suggestion that is sure to have you kicking up your heels with glee....
FootGolf at Disney's Oak Trail. This 9-hole soccer-like golf experience is fun for the whole family
(and I speak from experience when I say, very little skill is needed). If you're interested in this option, tee times
(well, kicking times actually) are available to book by calling (407) WDW-GOLF and the Front Desk at Disney's Old Key West Resort can help you arrange complimentary transportation with a valid reservation number.
*planDisney tip: If you're headed to FootGolf at Disney's Oak Trail make sure to pack a few water bottles as there is very little shade and you'll want to stay hydrated.I hope you have a pixie dusted stay and come on back to planDisney with any additional questions.
