Hi Julia,
Welcome to planDisney! I'm so glad you stopped by with this question, and I have to say, it hits close to home. Our family loves visiting
Walt Disney World Resort both for those special just-us trips and for the unforgettable memories we make when we bring along grandparents, cousins, and extended family. There’s something truly special about sharing a day at the parks with loved ones from every generation. You’re in for some core memory moments, and I’m happy to help you plan the best way to enjoy them.
When it comes to guests visiting you at
Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort, they are absolutely welcome. However, parking at the resort is intended for registered Guests staying at the hotel, so your visiting family members may be limited to a shorter stay if they are arriving by car. I recommend stopping by the front desk when you check in to explain your plans. The Cast Members there can note your visitors and work with you to make sure everyone is following the current policies.
Now, as with many things at Walt Disney World, policies can change from time to time, so I always like to have a few backup plans ready, especially when you’ve got a big group trying to coordinate for a park day at Magic Kingdom.
One idea is to have your off-property family members park at the Transportation and Ticket Center (the main parking area for Magic Kingdom). That way, everyone can meet up at the park and ride the bus together back to All-Star Sports after a day full of attractions, shows, and all the fun. When it’s time to say goodnight, they can hop a bus back to Magic Kingdom and take the monorail or ferry back to the parking area.
Another option is for them to park at the Transportation and Ticket Center in the morning and use the Lyft app to call a
Minnie Van or rideshare to meet you at the resort before heading to the park together. That way, they avoid parking limitations at All-Star Sports and still get to enjoy some resort time with your group.
Or, if your family enjoys an early start, they could head to
Disney Springs for some breakfast and shopping, then take a complimentary bus over to All-Star Sports. From there, you can all head to Magic Kingdom together.
I hope this gives you some flexibility as you think through your plans. If you need help deciding on which option fits your day best or would like some ideas for fun family photo spots, my favorite snacks in Magic Kingdom, or even the best place to watch
Happily Ever After as a group,
I’d be thrilled to share more.
TTFN,
Brent
