My family is staying with my in-laws in their camper this coming September. We want to do a character meal that they would rather sit out of. Are we able to book separate events or will we need to book everything together since we are staying with them?

    Hi Ashley,

It sounds like you're planning a super fun trip! Sharing the magic with extended family will be so special!

I'm happy to let you know that you have the freedom to make dinner reservations for whatever number of people that you'd like! If your in-laws would prefer to stay back at the campsite or enjoy a visit to a theme park or dinner at Disney Springs while you and your family enjoy a character meal, you are definitely free to do that! Since you're all traveling together, I'd encourage you to make sure your My Disney Experience accounts are all linked through the Family & Friends list. That will make planning FastPass+ selections and any dining reservations together super easy, but know that you don't have to do everything together! In fact, I often encourage large groups to break into smaller groups at times so that everyone can do what they really want to do before coming together again to enjoy a meal or fireworks show. When you go to make plans, whether they are FastPass+ selections or dining reservations, you'll simply choose the number of Guests in the party for which you want to make the plans, then select the people, and complete your reservation or selection.

You and your family will love a character dining experience. Some of my favorite Disney memories EVER have been interactions between my kiddos and characters during a meal. I'd encourage you to record the entire interaction as some of the best moments are during greetings or farewells. Seeing my now elementary-aged daughter when she was a toddler with her whole body wrapped around Belle's legs as if she never wanted to let go is so priceless to me now.

Thanks for stopping by, Ashley, and please let us know if you have any other questions! I hope that you have a truly magical vacation!
