My family is staying in a hotel off the Disney property and my husband is running this upcoming Disney Marathon. Do you have any suggestions on how to transport him to the race as easily as possible?

    Hi Nichole!

No worries!  While it does require some advanced planning, your husband will be able to get to his race just fine:)

If I could suggest one thing, it would be LEAVE EARLY!  (I mean, really early!)  The times that I have stayed somewhere other than a host resort with runDisney buses, I made sure I was in my car driving by 3 a.m.   Traffic really picks up between 3:30 and 4:00 a.m., and you don't want to get stuck in it.

Also, make sure you read through the road closures that will be printed in the Final Race Instructions booklet.  (the booklet can be downloaded via the Walt Disney World Marathon website, and will be in print form at the expo)  Traditional GPS directions may not get you to the start since many roads will already be closed.  Be sure to have your plan before you leave.

I know it sounds like he will be waiting around a long time, but there will be a lot going on at the start.  There is music, food booths, picture opportunities with characters, etc.  I like to get there, find a spot to sit, eat my breakfast, and stretch before walking to the start.

I hope this helps!  Please let me know if you have any other questions.
