Hi- My family and I will be staying at GF at the end of May. We really want to try out the sky liners. How can we go about this if we are not staying at a nearby resort?

    Welcome back to planDisney, Sara!

I love hearing that you’ve got a springtime visit to the Walt Disney World Resort planned. Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is one of my very favorite places to stay, with its elegant Victorian theming, manicured grounds, and stunning castle views. I know you’re going to have a stay there that is practically perfect in every way.

Just as Mary Poppins and Bert find ways to fly a kite and leap into the sky on carousel horses, you can have a colorful adventure through the skies on your vacation when you ride the Disney Skyliner. It’s truly a wonderful way to travel – so much so that my mom declared it her favorite attraction on a recent trip.

I have good news: you do not have to be a Guest at a resort hotel with a Disney Skyliner station to use this mode of transportation. Disney Guests are welcome to board the Skyliner at any station, and my recommendation is to ride between EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Let’s say you’ve started your day with a Disney Park Pass reservation at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and you’re ready for a break and a snack or lunch. A great lunch idea would be to ride the Disney Skyliner to Disney’s Riviera Resort, hop off and dine at one of their delicious dining locations, and then head back. Even if you don’t stop for a meal or a snack, riding from one park to another and then back is a great break – there’s a nice breeze, great views, and a nice chance to rest your legs along the way.

You’ll find the Disney Skyliner route map on the Disney Skyliner’s web page, along with more details about the resort hotels featuring Skyliner stations. If you ask at the front desk at your resort hotel, Cast Members will be happy to share the route map and other tips for making the most of your gondola travels.

Have an enchanting time at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, Sara, and happy flying! If you have any other questions as you count down the days to your visit, please come back and see us, and be sure to read the Disney Parks Blog for the all the latest news.

    Wishing you a magical vacation,
    Robyn
