Hi Samantha! I think you will love your upcoming stay at the great
Fort Wilderness Resort. My husband and I "camp" there every year with our motor coach and my children love to stay in the Cabins.
Getting around this very large resort is really not difficult. First of all, every loop and location is connected with paved sidewalks. If you feel energetic you can certainly walk from one place to another but know that distances can be quite long. So your next option is to perhaps use the internal bus system. These buses come by the closest bus stop to your site about every 15-20 minutes and they will take you to the marina and Pioneer Hall end of the resort all the way to the main bus depot and Check-In building. In between you can stop at the pools and Trading Posts and recreation areas.
Bike Rentals are available at the Bike Barn located next to the Meadows pool. Most guests who rent these bikes do so for just an hour or so as you cannot rent for the duration of your vacation. Many guests bring their own bikes from home now as it is a great way to get around. You can park them at any location.
Maybe the most fun way to get around Fort Wilderness is also the most expensive. You can reserve and rent a golf cart and you can rent that for your vacation time so you keep it with you until check out.
Golf Carts are fun for the entire family to be together and share in conversation while touring the sites and loops. There is plenty of cart parking at the bus depot as well as at the marina.
Hope you are able to enjoy one or all of the transportation options offered at Fort Wilderness!
