My family and I will be staying at the Fort Wilderness Cabins. I see that you can have an approved fire pit at the camp sites, can you also have an approved fire pit at the cabins?

    Hi Lindsey!

If this will be your first time at the Fort Wilderness Cabins you are in for a real treat during your Walt Disney World vacation. If you have enjoyed them in the past then you know what a great place it is to stay. All of the cabins have recently been refurbished in the last year making them even more comfortable for families and friends.

Fire pits used to be banned from all of the Fort Wilderness sites and cabins due to fire hazards. Over the last few years Disney has given permission for guests to use approved fire pits during their stays. These must have covers and mesh surrounding the flame. These same approved units are indeed allowed at the Cabins. Guests are asked not to have them on their cabin decking due to the wood surface. But they can have them  on the concrete surface.

Right now all of the Disney property is under fire hazard warning and all open flames are not permitted anywhere. This includes obviously the firepits and even Chip and Dale's Campfire Singalong. The resorts fire pits are not operating at this time and will not until the fire danger has been lifted. If you are visiting soon please call the Fort Wilderness front office to see if firepits will be allowed to be lit. That number is 407-824-2837.

Enjoy your stay at my favorite Walt Disney World resort!
