As a family of 10 we are staying at the AKL in August and we have the dining plan. All the table service meals are now reserved. We want to use the counter service meals for breakfast in the AKL- what are your best suggestions?

    Hi Stephen!

Walt Disney World caters to families of all shapes and sizes - your sounds like BIG fun!!!  My family stayed at the Animal Kingdom Lodge two years ago and it took our breath away!  I don't know that there is another resort on property that is detailed so intricately - you will swear that you are truly in Africa.  I'm thrilled that you already have your Advanced Dining Reservations made!  Too many people think that if they have the dining plan, that they don't need to make reservations.  I shudder at the thought!

The Animal Kingdom Lodge has a the largest food court of any Deluxe Resort on property!  That being said, there are only so many options for breakfast.  The Bounty Platter is HUGE and can honestly feed two people.  I think that my husband had this every morning!  There are also the traditional offerings of oatmeal, muffins, cinnamon rolls, and the all important Mickey Waffles!!!  There are a couple of African inspired dishes on the menu as well.  Quinoa, (which looked like oatmeal to me) and the more exciting Bobotie.  I don't really now how to explain Bobotie, other than to say that is a savory dish made of a spicy meat and eggs.  I tried a bite and it was honestly a little much for me so early in the morning!

You may want to pick up some smoothies, fresh fruit and muffins and head out to the pool one morning.  Or maybe grab some cereal and danishes and bring them out on your balcony to enjoy.  I hope that you have a wonderful vacation and I would love to hear from you again!

    Much pixie dust,
