My family and I (DH, son 17, d15) will be staying at PO-R Nov 29-Dec 6th. I recently stumbled across something that has me, the organizer/planner...frantic!! I like to unpack and settle in but only THREE drawers!!! Help pls... need ideas or suggestions! TY

    Hi there Lisa,

There are currently three available room types at Port Orleans Riverside: Alligator Bayou, Magnolia Bend, and the new Royal Rooms.  Alligator Bayou Rooms actually feature the least in the way of storage, and are limited to two under-bed drawers.  Both the Magnolia Bend "Mansion" rooms and the Royal Rooms are equipped with a unit that contains 3 drawers, but they are decent in size.  There is one small drawer in the nightstand and a decorative luggage bench.

My favorite spot for storing items is actually in the vanity/dressing area.  There is a nice hanging space topped by a long and sturdy shelf.  This shelf, along with the area under the hanging bar is perfect for storing luggage when not in use.  You could also maximize space by using the hanging area!  I always bring several extra hangers from home just to be safe!  There is also a shelf above the luggage bench with a few coat hooks!  I always use this area to hang our pin lanyards and to neatly arrange the items we will be using on a regular basis.

As the Mom, I usually stake claim on the hanging space in the vanity area.  I hang anything that can be hung, and I place my "foldables" on the shelves atop the hanging bar!  I find that it helps to pack my smaller items into LARGE zipper bags too!  They save on bulk and help me to remain organized!

Another valuable area is the air conditioner, believe it or not!  The rooms at POR have been recently renovated, and the A/C units have been covered in decorative wood paneling to create a window seat! This is a great place to store items as well!

You will find plenty of storage space in the bathrooms area, as each vanity has attached shelving and adequate counter space!

    Best Wishes, -Amanda F.
