We are a family of six (2 young children, 2 adults and 2 seniors) planning a stay to Walt Disney Resort. We will be flying into the Tampa International Airport, possibly late day. What is the best method of transportation to the Walt Disney Resort?

    Hiya W!

Welcome to planDisney, the most magical place on the internet. I always get so excited whenever I see fellow Canadians in our queue, and I am glad I can help you today! Transportation is an essential part of travelling to the Walt Disney World Resort, so let's talk about your options here.

Unfortunately, MEARS Private Ground Transportation, which is serviced by the same company that was in charge of the Magical Express in the past, does not currently go to the Tampa International Airport. This means that you have a few other options to get to and from the airport. First, other airport shuttle companies are available for this airport, though I have not personally used them. Airport shuttles are typically cheaper than other services but may take longer as they accommodate other Guests. Therefore, since you will be travelling with little ones, I would instead suggest using taxi or rideshare services or renting a car and driving to the theme parks yourself. These services may be a bit more expensive, but they are usually faster. Plus, a rental car is handy if you need to stop and get groceries or other essentials, although Disney Resort hotels typically have a convenience store section in their merchandise stores.

Don't forget that once on Disney property and at your Disney Resort hotel, you can enjoy complimentary Guest transportation such as buses, boats, monorails and the new Skyliner in certain areas! Although having your own car makes it easier to get around on your own schedule, Disney transportation is typically very frequent and closer to the theme park exits than the parking lot, so it sure is nice after a long day in the parks. Either way, staying at a Disney Resort hotel is what makes the most significant difference, in my opinion, as you can easily go back to your room for an afternoon break which is especially important with little ones. Stroller rental is also available on-site, and Minnie Vans, available through the Lyft app, come with two complimentary car seats for your little ones. Minnie Vans, however, are currently only available for ground transportation within the Walt Disney World Resort.

I hope this was helpful and that you and your Ohana will have the most magical vacation ever on your next Disney trip! If you have any other questions in the time leading up to your magic carpet ride, please don't hesitate to reach back out. You've got a friend in us here at planDisney!

    Have a magical day,
