Our family of six, ages 12, 10, 4, 1, are planning a WDW trip in May 2010. We have found the Prot Orleans Riverside Resort to be the best value for our family size. It fits the budget, but will we fit in the room comfortably?

    Tasha:

A lot depends on the answer to two questions: 1) are you planning on using a Pack 'n' Play for your 1-year-old? and 2) how much time do you see yourself spending in your room?

When our family stayed at Port Orleans, we didn't bring the baby, just the remaining five of us and I remember thinking a Pack 'n' Play would have been a tight squeeze because the trundle pulled out toward the wall near the door. We would have had to put it in the vanity area most likely because a table and chair lined the wall. If the baby sleeps with you, remember, Port Orleans features double beds, not queens like the Deluxe hotels.

If you're only planning to sleep in your room, it may be a good fit for your family (and your budget). We did little else than sleep and bathe.  And we kept the room tidy so we could maximize our space.  The space that we found small was that for our clothes, and with a baby's needs, you might find yourself cramped. Plan to hang up most of yours and your spouses clothes so that the kids can have the drawer space.  We used the hat and coat rack to hang backpacks, etc.

It's doable if you plan on keeping the room orderly and getting up and at 'em each day!

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

Meet the Panelist: Whitney, Mississippi

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
