Hi, Lori! Giving the children their very own Disney Gift Cards to spend at Walt Disney World is a fantastic idea. We do the very same thing – great minds think alike! It helps to avoid meltdowns when my kids know exactly how much they have to spend. Also, when they are in control of their own funds they seem to make better purchasing decisions. We can also be sure that each child receives the same amount of spending money without keeping a running tally in the back of our minds. You also turn you vacation into a learning experience, as this is a great way for them to learn how to manage and budget their funds. It’s a win/win all around!
You are able to use the Disney Gift Cards in all shops found within the Walt Disney World Theme Parks. My son actually used his card to purchase chopsticks at Mitsukoshi Department Store on our last visit. They were a must-have item for him after our dining experience at Teppan Edo. We were even able to use Disney Gift Cards at the Lego Store – my two boys were thrilled!
Wishing you a magical vacation, Lori!
