Hi there, Molly! Your March sailing onboard the Disney Dream is almost here. What a "Joy" it is to anticipate a Disney cruise! (Your question inspired me to add a few references to the movie "Inside Out.")
You are asking the right question because having the right travel documentation is KEY. When sailing to the Bahamas on Disney Cruise Line from a U.S. port, you will need an original or copy of a state-issued birth certificate for each member of your family and a Government-issued photo ID for any family members 16 and over. So if your daughter is 15 or under, all she will need is her birth certificate.
However, if there was a medical emergency during your visit to the Bahamas, you would need passports to travel by air. Not to be all "Sadness" on you! Just want to give you the full picture.
My advice: read the
Passports, Visas, and Travel Documentation page on the Disney Cruise Line website and then you can make your decision. Travel documentation can be locked in your stateroom safe, so you won't have to "Fear" them being safe.
And oh boy, get ready to be wowed at Castaway Cay! It's my absolute favorite tropical paradise. You'll be able to make all the "core memories" together whether you choose to explore or splash the day away. Pre-plan activities like
Port Adventures, sign up for the Castaway Cay 5K, or lounge in a beach chair. Some of our family favorites: Pelican Plunge with its waterslides,
snorkeling on Castaway Family Beach, and biking around the island like we own the place! Whatever your plans are, check out the
Castaway Cay map to get a lay of the land in advance.
If you have any other questions about sailing with Disney Cruise Line, we'd love to hEAR from you again.
Happy Sailing!
