My family of 8 will be sailing on our first cruise March 9-12! Our Dreams crashed a bit when we found out that the time change will occur DURING our cruise! Will we really lose that hour or does DCL wait until the cruise is over to change the time on ship?

    Hi there, Judy!

A couple of factors play into the ship's time changes.

Ships change time to the time zone observed by the Latitude and Longitude of the ship's position. Accuracy of time is important in the event of emergency, and maritime law dictates that every ship be consistent with its current positioning insofar as time changes are concerned.

The Bahamas do adhere to Daylight Saving Time, so yes, the ship will need to subscribe to that convention as well.

Ships will change their clocks to match the local port time. The Disney fleet makes these time changes very clear in the appropriate Personal Navigator, as well as via announcements.

Disney Cruise Line is always willing to help its Guests with plans and itineraries, especially when extenuating circumstances might occur (like a time change, for instance). Feel free to give them a call at (800) 951-3532.

    Bon voyage!

    See you later, celebrator,
