Hi Lisa!
I completely understand the feeling of watching the budget when it comes to planning
Port Adventures. There's
so much already included in the price of a Disney Cruise. Sometimes we keep the extras to a minimum and just enjoy the multitude of fun that's already been provided!
If you'd like to visit one of Nassau's public beaches while in port, you'll need to hire a taxi to get you there. Western Esplanade Beach is the closest, while the more popular Cable Beach is a few miles away. A taxi fare to Cable Beach will run about $12, with an additional charge for each extra passenger. If you choose to venture out on your own, pay close attention to the all-aboard time. You'll need to allow ample time to travel back to the ship, including the walk from the taxi stand.
On our last visit to
Nassau, we chose to stay on the ship instead of disembark. We enjoyed lighter crowds at the pool, and spent time participating in some fun onboard activities. (I proudly won the title of "Disney Tunes Trivia Champion"!) My youngest daughter made the most of her time on the ship by riding the AquaDuck water coaster over and over again, enjoying the smaller crowd and shorter wait times. If you choose to stay onboard, you're sure to find plenty of activities for all ages. It's a great time to explore the ship and take advantage of all there is to see and do on a Disney Cruise!
I hope this helps! Please come back and visit the Moms Panel if you have any further planning questions. Have a magical day! - Diane W.
