Disney Cruise Line has steps in place to help passengers with diabetes. First, you’ll want to fill out the
Medical Information Form to request a sharps container for your stateroom.
This information will also alert the wait staff in the dining room to speak with you about the menu and if needed the Chef will be available to answer your questions as well. Generally carb counts are not available for the food being served, however if you note the carb count required for your daughter on your Medical Information Form then the Head Server and Server will be prepared to help.
You will also receive a small fridge for your room since the cool box in staterooms may not be cold enough for your medication.
Bring current prescriptions including insulin in original containers.
Ask your server about suggestions for no-sugar desserts. At quick service locations, you may need to ask for them.
Please bring extra supplies. I've heard of passengers traveling with a carb count book. You may bring pre-packaged snacks on board. I'm hypoglycemic and never travel without my trusty peanut butter crackers or protein bars. While there is plenty of food on board the ship, I feel comfortable having my own comfort snacks on hand at all times.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to speak with a Disney Cruise Line representative at (800) 951-3532.
Also, consult with your doctor prior to traveling out of the country for any further suggestions.
Happy sailing!
