Family of 10 w/ 3 rms, AKL 12/27-1/1. 1st visit during holidays. Are there addl res/places held for resort guests dining at AKL or do we need adv res for all? Will the kids' activities be over full? hoping to relax while away from parks.

Hello, Pat and welcome to planDisney!

How exciting to be spending the holidays at Walt Disney World with your family! With the WILDest residents, Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge is the perfect “home” base to relax and unwind and still be captivated from sun up to sun down.

Now, Pat, dining is often the focus of my family vacations, so let’s talk about your options while visiting. Since there is NOT a specific pool of reservations for Disney Resorts Collection hotel guests, I highly recommend making advanced dining reservations now. The week between Christmas and New Years is a popular time of year to visit, so if you don’t see availability in advance, I encourage you to keep checking as often as your schedule allows. Because plans change, closer to your visit, you may see previously unavailable restaurants have an opening.

Another option, Pat, is to use the Mobile Dine Walk-Up Availability to check same-day availability.

Pat, relaxing at my Disney Resorts Collection hotel in between park time is a MUST for my family, so I appreciate that you’re interested in resort activities. When we last stayed at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas- Kidani Village my kids loved family activities in the Community Hall and learning about the animals on the savanna by chatting with the Cast Members. Pat, unfortunately, I can’t give you an estimate on how many resort guests might be interested in the activities offered, but I do encourage you to inquire with a Cast Member for more information at check-in.

However you spend your time, I'll be wishing you the Merriest of holidays at the Walt Disney World Resort. If you have any other questions, please come on back to planDisney!
