Our family would like to ride the amphicars. How do you go about doing this? Do you have to eat at the Boathouse restaurant in order to be able to ride in the amphicars? When is the best time to go when the wait time is least?

Hi, Diane! Thank you for bringing your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.

Amphicar tours are available for anyone to enjoy. Dining at The BOATHOUSE, while delicious and highly recommended, is not a requirement to ride. Upon your arrival, simply purchase your 20 minute tour at the restaurant gift shop. You can then head right on over to the Amphicars dock. My family enjoyed this experience this past May. We arrived around 11 a.m. and had no wait for our ride. During your aquatic journey you will have pictures taken of your unique experience and you may purchase those photos after your voyage. Do keep in mind the Amphicars themselves are very small. My husband and I are 'average' sized adults and my boys are 'average' sized 8 year old and 10 year old boys. We were squished, but OK. If your children are older or if you are a party larger than four you may need to have more than one Amphicar for your journey.

Wishing you and your family a magical vacation, Diane!

Meet the Panelist: Rachel, Wisconsin

Hi, I’m Rachel! I am a “boy mom” to two rowdy little men at home and married to my high school sweetheart. I am fortunate enough that my prince charming loves all things Disney just as much as I do! For me, planning a trip to Walt Disney World can be just as magical as being there. It brings our family together as we dream, plan, and count down the days. I would be honored to help plan your visit and share in your family’s very own magic! Learn More About Rachel
