Hi, Stacey!
Welcome to planDisney. I love that your family is planning a holiday trip to
Disneyland Resort with your dad (and I "double love" that he is a
Magic Key holder!). I grew up going to Disneyland with my family, and creating new memories as an adult with my parents and my kids has been an unbelievably special experience.
All Guests over the age of 3 need their own theme park tickets and park reservations. Your dad can make his own park reservations and cancel them if he is unable to go with you. Currently, Magic Key cancellations need to be made by 11:59 PM Pacific Time on the day before the reserved date (subject to change), so there is plenty of time to finalize his plans. Keep in mind that each type of Magic Key has its own
blockout dates, so make sure your dad's pass is valid on that day.
Magic Key holders can purchase
Lightning Lane Multi Pass after scanning into a theme park. It is subject to availability, but I have a Magic Key pass, and I have never experienced issues buying it in the morning. After you are all in the parks and have purchased Lightning Lane Multi Pass, you can add your dad's Magic Key pass to your
Disneyland app (tickets and Magic Keys can appear in more than one app). This way, you can reserve Lightning Lane times for the entire group, including your dad.
To add your dad's Magic Key pass, open the Disneyland app and select the three lines at the bottom of the screen. Tap "My Tickets & Passes," and choose the "plus" symbol at the top. Select "Link Tickets & Passes" to scan your dad's Magic Key pass or manually enter the number. Now you are ready to book Lightning Lanes! In Disneyland Park, I suggest starting with Space Mountain, Indiana Jones Adventure, or Haunted Mansion Holiday. Over at Disney California Adventure Park, I usually pick Guardians of the Galaxy - Mission: BREAKOUT!, Toy Story Midway Mania!, or the Incredicoaster.
Stacey, have a magical visit to Disneyland! Don't hesitate to contact planDisney again if you have other questions.
Happy holidays!
Jen
