My family and I have reservations for Disneyland on Wednesday September, 14th. My mother decided she wanted to come with us and I was shocked to find there are no more reservations available for that day! Any idea why the park would be so crowded that day?

    Hiya, Jacob!

Welcome BACK to planDisney! It's so great to see your name pop back up in our system. And this time it looks like you're headed to Mickey's original house, Disneyland Resort. How exciting!!

This is a great question. With Disneyland Resort, we've noticed that Park Pass Reservations and sometimes even Theme Park Admission Tickets sell out completely in the days, weeks, and depending on what's going on, even up to a month or two, before certain Disney Days. While I don't have the proper magic mirror to peek in on the data or can tell for certain, my guess is that this upcoming week will be popular for two reasons:

The first is because of the D23 Expo, which is D23: The Official Disney Fan Club hosting its bi-annual Ultimate 3-Day Disney Fan Event. This is like comic con meets a shareholder's meeting, and is officially when once-rumored or completely surprise projects and upcoming attractions are announced. Several of my Panel pals are there right now and I should call them peanut butter because I'm quite jelly. Because the weekend is a super packed back-to-back schedule, most who fly in for the expo don't have time to visit the parks unless they do so before or after the event. So be sure to keep your eyes and ears on watch duty during your Disney days as you never know who will stick around to play in the parks in the days after.

Bonus Tip: If you'd like to keep up with the various announcements, be sure to check out the Disney Parks Blog over the next three days.

Another guess I have is Disney California Adventure Park hosts a separately ticketed Halloween event called Oogie Boogie Bash on select nights in September and October, and the 13th is a Party night. I have a feeling that a lot of out-of-state D23 attendees are planning on getting the most out of their flights to Southern California by staying for both events and turning the whole week into a Disneyland vacation.

I'm so sorry that your plus 1 plans may not happen as your group would like them to, Jacob. There's always the chance that more Theme Park Admission Tickets and Park Pass Reservations will open up at the last minute or that you could even find one more set needed for your mom on the morning of at the Ticket Booths in person. However, that is a big wish, and I'd hate for her to fly so far for it to not happen. I'm so sorry this wasn't the answer you were sEARching for, Jacob, but I do hope that you and your scheduled family will have so much fun!
