Hi Susan,
Welcome to planDisney! I am happy to see you making plans to see the
Happily Ever After show at Magic Kingdom during your visit, especially since this show will end to make way for
Disney Enchantment beginning October 1st. We just returned from a visit to the Walt Disney World Resort and watched the Happily Ever After show four nights. We adore this show!
I would first suggest that you take a look at your dinner reservation time. During the time of your visit, it looks like the Happily Ever After show is at 8:15 p.m. When we just visited, it was at 9:15 p.m. and we were in our viewing spot by 7:45 p.m. when watching the show from the parks. One night we watched from 'Ohana and another night we watched from California Grill. Our favorite viewing spot is right in front of Cinderella Castle. We sit on the left (facing the castle), just at the rope that a Cast Member uses to block off access to the pathway that takes you through the castle. So, given the earlier start time during your visit, I would recommend that you have someone in place holding spots by 6:30 p.m. or 6:45 p.m.
We always get a spot right in front of the castle so that we can see all of the projections displayed on the castle. And, we love not having anyone standing in front of us while watching. The only person in front of us is the Cast Member who is making sure folks stay off of the walkway to the castle during the show. Although Whispering Canyon is a lovely dining location, I would suggest that you consider dining somewhere in Magic Kingdom.
Liberty Tree Tavern might be a good option. If you keep your reservation at Whispering Canyon, make sure your dining reservation starts no later than 5:00 p.m. to give yourself time to dine before having to head over to Magic Kingdom.
I am usually the one holding the viewing spot and I let the girls go ride an attraction, so they are not waiting for the entire time. If you decide to do this, be careful. The closer it gets to the time of the show, access points will get blocked off and anyone who is trying to get back to your viewing spot may have a hard time, especially with the crowds. I literally had to stand up one time to motion so that folks would see my girls behind them, trying to get through and let them through to get back to our spot. So, now, I tell them to be sure they are back at least an hour prior to the show.
Susan, I hope this helps! Sending you a little extra pixie dust as you make those plans!
Magic and memories,
Donyell
