We have had family relocate to the SoCal area and will be staying with them on our first visit to Disneyland this summer. What experiences we will miss out on by not staying at the resort on property as we want this to be a memorable experience?

    Hi James!

Thanks so much for visiting the Disney Parks Moms Panel! Visiting Disneyland Resort for the first time is certainly a magical experience!

There are many benefits to staying at one of the Disneyland Resort Hotels. Extra Magic Hour is one of them, letting you enjoy select attractions in either Disneyland Park or Disney California Adventure Park one hour before the park opens to the public. Another benefit is getting an exclusive entrance into the park by staying at my favorite property, the Grand Californian Hotel & Spa. During the summer there are often fun pool parties at the various hotels as well.

If staying with family instead of at a Disneyland Resort Hotel, you might miss the Extra Magic Hour but you will be making new family memories together! And that is pretty “magical” in itself!

I hope this helps and please let me know if you have any other questions as you plan your visit.

    See you real soon!
