My family really wants to go to the Magic Kingdom the week of Christmas. Is there a way to know which days will have less crowds? We are talking about a weekday prior to Christmas Eve 2020. What is the best way to plan a Christmas week visit?

    Hi Rebecca!

    Welcome to planDisney!

I'm so excited to see that you have a trip planned for Christmas!  This is one of my favourite times of the year to visit Walt Disney World Resort.  I love the decorations around the Resort, at the theme parks and Disney Resort hotels, and at Disney Springs!  Holiday celebrations began on November 6th and the Disney Parks Blog tempted us with some details of what we can expect to enjoy.

At this time, all the theme parks are operating on a limited capacity, and along with our park admission tickets, we are also required to reserve our park days with Disney Park Passes.  You can reserve one park per day, and although park hopping is suspended for now, you are permitted to leave the park and return later in the day.  Park passes are limited and subject to availability so once you have linked your park admission ticket to your My Disney Experience account I recommend you make your reservations at your earliest opportunity, especially for Christmas week.  You can view availability of park passes here.

Christmas is a hugely popular time of year to visit Walt Disney World Resort.  The best way to plan is to expect higher crowds, arrive early at the theme parks and look forward to enjoying time at the Resort hotels and Disney Springs (but again, I would definitely recommend arriving early as once Disney Springs has reached capacity you will not be allowed entry).  With the use of Disney Park Passes, theme parks may be easier to manage as crowds may not be as high as normally experienced at this time of year.  If you wish to make any dining reservations, these can be made up to 60 days in advance, online, or by using your My Disney Experience mobile app.

We may need a little more considered and careful planning, but our vacations to Walt Disney World Resort can still be a magical experience.  Please read this information about Returning to a World of Magic, and Parks and Tickets: Know Before You Go, and keep watching the Disney Parks Blog for all the latest official updates.

Please come back and visit us again if you have any further questions.  We are always happy to help you plan your magical vacation.
