We are a family of 5 and really want to stay at the Contemporary. We have been to Disney 2 times with the kids and really want to do it up big this year! It will cost almost 2,000 more to stay in the tower at the Contemporary. What should we do?

I was in exactly the same position a year and a half ago.  After looking into all the alternatives and acknowledging that we could afford it, we choose a tower room with a Magic Kingdom view.  I also requested a room close to the elevator when we checked in.  We had an amazing time.  The newly renovated rooms are gorgeous and decorated in a truly contemporary style.  The platform beds were considerably more comfortable than the beds at any of the moderate resorts.  The bathrooms were a great size, though not as child friendly as most in WDW.  My daughter had to be reminded not to turn the water on too hard in the shallow sink.

We were able to walk from our room to the Magic Kingdom in about fifteen minutes and the monorail couldn't have been any closer.  We also had a great view of the fireworks from our balcony and enjoyed have a high definition TV and computer in our room.

I should warn you, they are still updating other aspects of the resort.  If you go this year you will most likely see many areas under construction.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

I have been fortunate enough to be on the Walt Disney World Moms Panel since 2008.  As a Disney World enthusiast, I can’t imagine a greater opportunity.  My husband, our 6-year-old daughter, and I visit WDW a few times a year.
