Hi there, Camille!
Welcome to planDisney! While I am so happy you've stopped by with your question, I am so sad to be the bearer of less-than-magical news.
Disney's Walk Around the World bricks were retired in 2019 when Magic Kingdom was expanded and its entrance was transformed. Unfortunately, those bricks are no longer there and are now a very special part of Walt Disney World history.
For a couple of years after the bricks were removed, Commemorative Legacy Paver souvenirs were available for personalization and purchase on the
Disney Store website and at a couple of retail locations in Magic Kingdom and Disney Springs. However, it seems they are no longer offered online, and I have not seen them available for purchase in Magic Kingdom in quite some time. On your next trip, I do recommend checking for souvenir pavers at the
Marketplace Co-Op in Disney Springs, as this location used to sell them and does offer personalized items. I'll be wishing upon a star that you will be able to recreate a replica of your family's brick.
For many of us, the nostalgia of
Walt Disney World is part of what makes it so special. So, I would love to share one thing I did to feel connected to my dad and my childhood while playing in the parks. Before one of my trips, I went to my mom's house and found old photos of my family and me at Disney World and snapped a photo of them to keep on my phone. Then, I did my best to recreate some of those childhood photos around Disney World. As the family photographer, my dad was rarely in the photos, but there was one picture I had taken of him when I was a kid. I used clues from the background of the photo to find the exact spot where the photo was taken. Then, I had my family, who he never had the chance to meet, take a picture of me in that exact spot. Standing where he stood with me as a child, now with my own child, I felt so connected to him, and it was such a moving, magical moment. I recommend taking some time to do something similar on your next trip, Camille. While your family's brick may no longer be there, the memories always will be!
While this likely was not the answer you were hoping for, Camille, I hope it was at least helpful. Please feel free to stop by any time with any questions you may have. You've got a friend in me!
Blue skies and sunshine,
Mandy
