Hi there, Kyle!
Welcome to planDisney. We like to think of this as our magical corner of the internet where we share tips and tricks with fellow Guests for visits to the Happiest Place on Earth! It sounds like you are planning quite an unforgettable family adventure for this coming weekend. The magic of most Disney park adventures starts with
theme park tickets, so let's jump right in and ensure a pixie-dusted arrival to the Disneyland Resort.
I'm happy to hear your family of four is all set with tickets and
Lightning Lane Multi Passes. You are going to love maximizing the magic and zipping through those queues. For your in-laws, it can work both ways—for them to purchase or for you to purchase. You would just link the tickets to both of your accounts to book Lightning Lanes as one party. Don't worry, I'm not going to leave you there. I'm happy to walk you through how to link tickets to set you up for a successful day in the parks.
First things first, I would recommend that they create their own account in the
Disneyland app or on the website. This will give them a bit of flexibility to enter and leave the parks, or even make Lightning Lane reservations separately from the group, if they choose to do so. If they purchase their tickets, the tickets will show up in their account, as yours did for you. Similarly, if you purchase the tickets, they will show up in your "My Tickets & Passes". To link tickets to another account, navigate to the three-bar menu in the bottom right-hand corner and select "My Tickets & Passes". From here, tap the "+" in the top right-hand corner to "Link Tickets & Passes". If you are physically in the same space, you can choose "Camera" to scan the barcode from one phone to the other. With a simple scan, the ticket will now appear in both accounts. If you are not physically together, you can choose "Type ID" to manually enter the ticket confirmation number, which is listed just under the barcode. If you think that your in-laws will be making Lightning Lanes for the group as well, you would also need to link your family's tickets to their account using the same process.
I know that was a lot to take in, Kyle, but I promise the process is pretty intuitive once you are in the app and should only take a minute or two. Once the full set of tickets is linked in both accounts, when you go to make that first Lightning Lane selection, you will see the option to check off the Guests you want to include in that reservation. For my family, I have a thrill-seeking daughter and a not-quite-ready-for-thrills son, so this allows me to make separate selections for her and me, and I try to get one at a similar time for my husband and son at a nearby attraction.
With your Lightning Lane Multi Pass, don't forget that it includes unlimited access to all of the
Disney PhotoPass photos you capture that day! You'll want to take advantage of locking in these magical moments, so don't be shy and jump into the photo when you spot a PhotoPass photographer! You will also have access in the app to Disney PhotoPass Lenses, which are fun filters with animations and borders. Some are location-based and offer special versions only when you are in certain areas of the park. My kids love to use these while we are in line for attractions. They are super fun!
I hope this has been helpful! You are always welcome back to planDisney if you have any more questions. Wishing you magic!
Tara
