Hello Jenny,
Planning your first trip to Disney World can be such an exciting time for every member of the family. And by the sounds of it, you are playing the extra special role of Fairy Godmother!
If I had a magic wand, I would have all of your answers wrapped in a gorgeous gift-wrapped box. But trip planning is such a personal experience. My first piece of advice would be to check out Disney's
Vacation Package Guide. Here you'll be able to customize a trip that fits your family and your budget.
That being said - I think every family should stay
at least five nights if they can while vacationing at Disney World. This allows two days for travel and one day for each of the Theme Parks. Now, if you want more than one day in each Parks or a full day at a Water Park or Downtown Disney, you can go from there.
And if your family enjoys outdoor activities, I'd say check out the Cabins at Fort Wilderness because not only will they have room for your family of five, but they offer fishing, archery, horseback riding and more.
I am a huge fan of the Disney Dining Plan (DDP). Because the DDP is part of the Magic Your Way vacation package, you pay for your meals prior to arriving on property. So in essence, when you arrive at Disney, you're showing up worry-free! Your meals are paid for (just don' t forget to add gratuity!). For me and my family, Disney's not just about the attractions and the Parks. We love to experience the restaurants too. The DPP allows us to taste foods we never would have been able to try!
I hope this helps! Let us know if we here at the Moms Panel can help you out more along your planning journey!
