My family of 4 plans on returning to DW for the 4th time in 5 years for the first week in October 2013. How soon can I start planning? I've never known this far in advance that we would be returning so I want to start ASAP! Thanks!

Hi Penny! It is such a good idea to start your Disney planning now. You will be more likely to get not only the specific resort and room type that is best for your family but also those dining reservations that disappear so quickly.

Guests can book up to 499 days in advance a resort room by calling Disney direct or using a travel agent. You cannot book that far in advance using the website. If your dates are not being allowed on the website then make the call. They will quote you the 2012 prices and will adjust those later if rates go up. Again if the website is not taking October 2013 dates you will only book a room only reservation but can add the package elements later.

Dining reservations are done at 180 days from your first day of arrival. You can then make dining plans for up to ten days of your trip. Mark that on your calendar so you are sure not to miss the day. Locations such as Chef Mickey, Cinderella's Royal Table, Be Our Guest, and Le Cellier are all so popular they will book out quickly.

You can also plan and reserve any recreation opportunities at 180 days. Check out the different tours to see if there is something that might interest your family. Perhaps there is a fireworks cruise you would like to splurge and take the family on during one night of your stay. Now is the time to do your homework and study the Disney website to see all that is offered in and out of the parks.
