Hey there, Carolyn. I always love seeing a fellow North Carolinian stop by planDisney with a question. I hope you are doing well!
Carolyn, you are correct about the
Disney Skyliner being down for refurbishment during your trip. The scheduled dates for maintenance are January 23rd - January 28th, 2022. If you are hoping to stay at
Disney's Art of Animation Resort, which is really cute and fun, I would not let this stop you. Transportation to all of the
Walt Disney World Theme Parks will still be provided. You will just need to catch a complimentary bus to your destination instead of hopping on the Disney Skyliner for part of your trip. However, since your trip does not start until January 27th, you will only have two days where the Disney Skyliner is not in service. If you like the idea of the Skyliner, I don't think this is a bad compromise at all. For the last 3 days of your vacation, the Disney Skyliner should be reopened and you'll be able to enjoy a ride high in the sky to your destination.
The Disney Skyliner services Disney's Riviera Resort, Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort, Disney's Art of Animation Resort and Disney's Pop Century Resort. From those locations, you can make your way over to Epcot or Disney's Hollywood Studios. When planning your itinerary, you could schedule to visit the Walt Disney World Theme Parks that the Disney Skyliner does not service, like Magic Kingdom Park and Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park, on the days the Skyliner will not be in service during your trip. You'll need to take alternate transportation to those theme parks anyway so you really are not losing out on that amenity during those first two days.
Carolyn, I hope this helps! If you have any other questions about the Disney Skyliner's refurbishment or anything else, please feel free to
stop back by and ask me. I'm here to help.
Happy planning!
