Me and my family of 3 are planning a vacation to Disneyland Cali. the end of Sept. 2013. We are on a budget and wondering where to stay and what can we do to stretch our budget? We are wanting to stay about 5 days. Is September a good time to travel?

    Hi there Letisa,

I am so glad you found me here at the Disney Parks Moms Panel!  I am excited to help you plan your magical vacation to The Happiest Place on Earth!  Disneyland offers a wide range of options to suit the needs of most budgets!

Late September is actually one of the BEST times to visit Disneyland because the weather will be pristine and the crowds will be at a minimum because the Southern California schools will be back in session!

When it comes to accommodations, I find that Paradise Pier is usually the most affordable of the three Disneyland Hotels while their are many Disney-approved Good Neighbor Hotels in the surrounding areas which offer great deals for guests looking to stretch their dollar.

Occasionally you can purchase discounted tickets at Costco or Vons Grocery but I can almost always find the best deal directly through Disneyland by booking a complete vacation package.  If you are a AAA member, you could also check with them for special vacation package pricing.

I recommend eating some of your meals off property if you are looking to save a little.  There are many great restaurants within walking distance of the parks.  You are also permitted to bring a small, soft cooler into the parks with you!  This is great for bringing your own snacks and drinks in eliminating the need to purchase them!

Another great money saving tip is to bring all of the essentials with you: stroller, rain poncho, sunscreen, batteries, band aids, etc.  You can also pre purchase souvenirs at a lower price from the Disney Store prior to arrival!  This can help you pinch pennies!

Please be sure to write back with any additional questions!
