My family is planning a trip and we do not want to purchase Magic Bands. Can we punch a hole in the magic card to attach it to a lanyard?

    Hi Anne,

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, and thank you for your question. It looks like you’ve got a Walt Disney World vacation coming up soon, and I know just how excited you’re getting! I love this stage of thinking about what we’ll need to make our magical vacation go smoothly and starting to pack, plan, and dream about the fun.

I don’t recommend punching a hole in your Walt Disney World Admission Card, as those cards are full of magic (or, I guess the technical term is RFID technology). I wouldn’t want your card to malfunction or be unusable as a result of putting a hole in it.

Don’t worry, though, as there are plenty of lanyards available with either a clamp-style clip that can hold on to your Admission Card, or a clear pouch you can slide the card into. Amazon has some cute ones, and so does ShopDisney. If you’d like to wait and purchase one at the theme parks, they’re sold in almost every merchandise location, with a great variety of characters and themes to choose from.

Having a lanyard is a fun way to add some Disney style to your park attire, and they’re also great for Guests who want to collect or trade pins, which can be attached to the lanyard. Along with lanyards, you can purchase pins and pin trading starter packs at most gift shops; my daughter collects a pin on each trip, connected to something special we did. Back home, she attaches her pins to a bulletin board, and they make lovely souvenirs when we’re missing our happy place.

I hope that helps, Anne. Please come back and see us if you have any more questions as you count down the days!

    Wishing you a magical vacation,
    Robyn
