Hey there, Mary, and welcome to planDisney! As a dad of three kiddos under the age of 5, the stroller is the only required item for every one of my Disney Vacations. Where are we eating? It doesn’t matter, as long as we have that stroller! Well… where we’re eating really does matter; because Disney food is an attraction all its own. But you get the picture!
Stroller Rentals are available near the entrance of each Theme Park and Disney Springs. The Double Stroller has a recommended weight threshold of 100 lbs, per the Walt Disney World Website. So, I believe the Double Stroller is definitely doable for your daughters. My sons are similar in size and height to your girls, and the Double Strollers have always worked out great for us on our vacations. And with all of the walking that’s required, the strollers always end up being a lifesaver! The thought of carrying my 40-pound, 5-year-old through
Magic Kingdom Park because his legs are tired scares this Disney dad!
Mary, keep in mind that Walt Disney World Theme Park stroller rentals are only available for use in the Theme Parks and must be returned prior to exiting the park. If you will need a stroller for use outside of the parks, you can consider renting from a local stroller rental company like Disney’s Authorized Provider, Scooterbug. We rented a double and single stroller from them on our last trip to Walt Disney World because we like the flexibility of getting to use our strollers outside of the Theme Parks. If the littles are napping, we can still leave the park without having to wake them and carry them. Emphasis on the carry them because we’re already outnumbered!
One of my favorite things about taking our kids to Walt Disney World is there are new experiences in store at every turn! If your girls have yet to experience a roller coaster, I like to recommend that parents start with
The Barnstormer ride in Magic Kingdom Park to gauge their interest in roller coasters. The Barnstormer is a short ride with all the feels of a true roller coaster. So it gives the littles a really good idea of what roller coasters are like. As you know, many have a love-hate relationship with these types of attractions, and I want to make sure that my kids love them by easing them into the thrill! Many of the Disney attractions have height restrictions, but after reaching that coveted 40-inch requirement (which your girls have already hit) the attraction world really opens up to you.
Here’s a list of all the attractions by height requirement so you can plan out all of the ones your family can experience. We use this list to get my boys excited about our upcoming trips!
I hope this helps, Mary!
