Hi my family and I are planning on taking a trip the first week of October for our youngest daughters 10th birthday. I'm curious as to which resort is the best to stay at and what will the temperature be like for this time of the year?

    Hi Teona:

This question has many correct answers, and I'm always eager to give my opinion.

For a 10 year old, check out the Yacht or Beach Club Resorts, which share the Stormalong Bay pool, considered by many to be the best pool on property featuring a major water slide, several sections, and a lazy river.  Not only are these Resorts centrally located near that entertainment and restaurants of the Boardwalk area, but they are a quick walk away from Epcot, and long walk or short boat ride away from Hollywood Studios.  I also recommend Animal Kingdom Lodge, especially if you reserve a savanna-view room where your family can watch the animals walk by right outside your window.  The pools are great at Animal Kingdom Lodge. AKL Jambo House is home to the 11,000 square foot Uzima pool. The pool boasts a 67-foot slide. There is also Pumbaa's Fun and Games Arcade. AKL Kidani Village is home to the wonderful Samawati Springs pool.

If you are looking at a Value Resort, Pop Century has great themeing which your 10-year old may appreciate.

The weather in early October should be wonderful, especially coming from New York.  Temperatures generally hover in the high seventies or even low eighties during the day.  I would bring layers in case as temperatures can drop to high sixties at night time.

    Enjoy your vacation.
